Senior Sustainability Researcher

In your day-to-day role: 

  • You will analyze environmental, economic, and social impacts using methodologies such as Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). 
  • You will participate in the development and application of participatory methodologies and citizen science in research projects. 
  • You will conduct social research using quantitative (surveys, database analysis) and qualitative (interviews, focus groups) methodologies. 
  • You will analyze urban food systems to improve their sustainability and resilience. 
  • You will contribute to the development of sustainable food products through eco-design and circular economy strategies. 
  • You will participate in research and innovation projects in regional, national, and European public calls, as well as innovation projects with companies. 
  • You will contribute to the dissemination of project results: preparing proposals, writing scientific articles and reports, and consolidating the center’s network of stakeholders. 

Requirements

We are looking for someone who: 

  • Holds a PhD in Environmental Sciences, Food Industries, Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, or related fields. 
  • Has at least 8 years of experience in research projects or innovation consultancy in relevant areas. 
  • Is proficient in data analysis, statistical methods, and database management, with strong experience in Excel. 
  • Has experience in Life Cycle Assessment using tools such as SIMAPRO or OPENLCA. 
  • Is familiar with sustainability and circular economy concepts, particularly in the food sector. 
  • Is comfortable interacting in English (C1). 

Extra advantages: 

  • Experience in preparing technical-economic proposals for public and private funding, as well as managing environmental consultancy, R&D, and technology transfer projects. 
  • Participation in European projects. 
  • Knowledge and experience in participatory tools and methodologies, social innovation projects, technology and food process areas, and the HORECA channel. 
  • High level of Basque (C1).
