Sustainability Researcher

From GOe Tech Center, Pioneer Technological Center for Research and Innovation in Sustainable Gastronomy, we believe that gastronomy is a fundamental lever to achieve a sustainable food system. From this approach we want to generate knowledge to promote a positive change in the food system, contributing to build a more sustainable, healthy and resilient society, actively involving all stakeholders and citizens.

In your daily work...  

  • You will analyze the environmental, economic and social impact through the application of methodologies such as Life Cycle Analysis (LCA).  
  • You will participate in the development and application of participatory methodologies and citizen science in research projects.  
  • You will conduct social research using quantitative (surveys, database analysis) and qualitative (interviews, focus groups) methodologies.  
  • Analyze urban food systems to improve their sustainability and resilience.  
  • Contribute to the development of sustainable food products through eco-design and circular economy strategies.  
  • You will participate in research and innovation projects in sustainability, in regional, national and European public calls, as well as in innovation projects with companies. 
  • You will collaborate in the elaboration of proposals, drafting of scientific articles, reports and dissemination of project results, as well as in the consolidation of the network of agents of the technology center. 

Requirements

Do you identify yourself with the following characteristics?   

  • You have a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Food Industries, Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related field. 
  • You have a Master's degree, especially in areas related to the position.  
  • You have at least 5 years of experience in research projects or innovation consulting in areas related to the position.  
  • You are proficient in data analysis, statistical methods and database management, with extensive experience in the use of Excel for these functions.  
  • You have experience performing Life Cycle Analysis and using tools such as SIMAPRO or OPENLCA for this purpose.  
  • You are familiar with the concepts of sustainability and circular economy, especially in the food industry.  
  • You are comfortable interacting in English (C1).   

You will make a difference if:   

  • You have a PhD especially in topics related to the position.  
  • Your experience has been focused on the design, elaboration of technical-economic proposals for public and private funding, as well as management of environmental consulting projects, research, development and technology transfer.  
  • You have participated in European projects.  
  • You have knowledge and experience in the use of participatory tools and methodologies, as well as in social innovation projects, and in the field of food technology and processes and HORECA channel.  
  •  You have a high level of Basque (C1).
