Antonia García Bernal wins the Basque Culinary Center training grant, awarded by the Regulatory Board of DOP Jumilla

10 January 2018

Agricultural engineer Antonia García Bernal, originally from Albacete, has won the training grant awarded this year for the first time by the Regulatory Board of Jumilla Wines Protected Designation of Origin (DOP Jumilla). The grant funds the Master’s in Sommelier Studies and Enomarketing delivered by the Basque Culinary Center.

Bernal is a higher level student in viticulture and wine production at the Jumilla Integrated Agricultural Training and Experience Center, and has been selected as the grant winner by the technical committee comprising Pilar García-Granero (Coordinator of the Master’s at the Basque Culinary Center), Carolina Martínez (General Secretary of the Regulatory Board of DOP Jumilla), Pedro Martínez (Nariz de Oro 2003), Fernando Riquelme (President of the Cofradía del Vino Reino de la Monastrell wine guild), Alfonso Hernández (President of FREMM Murcia and entrepreneur in the sector) and Pedro Lencina (President of the Regulatory Board).

The €12,000 grant covers matriculation for the Master’s — which will start on Monday, January 15th — as well as accommodation and subsistence during the six month course.
